About
Ronald Alexander II, aka “CJ”, born and raised in Detroit Michigan, developed a love for music at a very early age. Born to Ronald Alexander Sr, a well known organist and choir director and Francine McCain, a powerful singer in her own right, “CJ” grew up around music and quickly took to playing the drums, acting as his fathers personal drummer as soon as he could reach the pedals.
Throughout his adolescence he continued to play the drums and picked up playing the violin and dabbled in playing the piano. After attending a late night musical with his Father and being awed by two of Detroit’s finest bass players, John Tucker and Joe “Rock” Fielder, he begged his mother for a bass and after several months of pleading she bought him one. After joining the Jazz band sophomore year of high school, he quickly turned into one of the bright young new faces in the area. Spending countless hours studying his favorite players, Alan “Snoop” Evans, Thad Tribbet, Dwayne “DW” Wright, Adam Blackstone, Ethan Farmer, Sharay Reed and host of other phenomenal musicians and faithfully attending a weekly shed, held by Joseph “The Man” Otis, he sharped and is continuing to perfect the gift God gave him.
Over the next few years, he was giving opportunities to play with some of the most recognized and respected singers and musicians all over the world. He, in a span of barely a decade, has recorded and toured with artists of all genres and has proven to be a musician of character and integrity. With his first solo project in the works, Ronald “CJ” Alexander II, hopes to show to the world all aspects of his musicianship, his ability as a producer and to one day work along side with those musicians he has learned so much from and aspires to be himself.
